l enjoy this author and her writing style. I also appreciated that the author spoke of her own rape at a young age. It was hard at times to realize that our character was a writer and decided to write about her ordeal, and that was exactly what Ms James was doing. I can't imagine how hard it was for this author to revisit her own ordeal. She encourages anyone who has had a similar experience to come forth and I hope someone who is dealing with rape will take her advice, you are a victim and it wasn't your fault. Such encouraging words.So, be warned this story is about a women who was raped at 16, so if this will cause you problems be warned.
There is descriptive sex outside of marriage. If you are a fan of this author, you know what I am talking about because her lovemaking is full of passion and description.
I figured out who the villain was early on, but still was a suspenseful story. We do get an HEA, and it was fast at arriving there, no romance really, but a lot of tension with the story line. Plus no cliffhanger -yea, but no epilogue either - boo. But, everything is wrapped up nicely, I just wanted to know what the future held. Our character's from book 1 have a part in this story, but the way the author writes, you really don't have to read it because she explains everything so you are not lost. I did enjoy book 2 of the series more than book 1.
The story does end at 86% so I feel the price is high now, but would recommend this author. She pulls you in quickly and her character's are well
developed. I am not going into the blurb as many have explained it better than me, just what you may experience reading it. (ljb)

Bear has joined the Brotherhood Protectors Service. Mia has come to write a screenplay. The only problem is the play is bringing up memories of her own past and what happened to her. She feels she needs to resolve it somehow. Mia hires Bear as her bodyguard. She finally opens up and tells Bear what happened. Can they figure out who attacked her or will he find her before it is too late? Can Mia figure out how to get Bear to be with her?
The book was good, but the sudden ending left lots not tied together. It's as if the author only writes a certain number of pages, then abruptly ends the book. The other books have been the same. Turn the page, then nothing........
Truly enjoyed reading Montana D-Force (Book 3 of Brotherhood Protector Series). Mia Chastain, a successful screenwriter, returns to her home town to her family home, to hopefully complete a promised script. Unfortunately her past catches up with her! She ends up hiring Tate "Bear" Parker, a former Delta Force soldier forced out of the force due to medical injury, as her bodyguard. It was a good decision as she is in danger again and again. "Bear" was a very enjoyable hero and a very pleasant companion for Mia. Their romance was a delight! The only change I would have wished for was a longer story. So very happy I read this story and I plan to go back and read more books in this series!
I love books by Elle James and this one kept me glued to my ereader until the end. Unfortunately that end came a bit too quickly for me. I know that all books must end at some point but an awful lot of stuff happened in this story and I think a quick epilogue would have wrapped things up a bit neater.
Those things being said, based on the dedication this book must have been difficult to write so I applaud Elle for telling this story. You can read the dedication if you “look inside” on to see what I mean.
Mia and Bear have good chemistry and when things finally come together for them it was hot. The Brotherhood Protector books are enjoyable stories and I look forward to reading more of them.

I thought it was really good except it was really, really rushed. I thought the heroine was great. I don't understand when people say a rape victim doesn't act like a rape victim. She was raped when she was 16. She has never had sex until she meets Bear. She has a great connection with him. So there relationship moves along. I didn't think it happened too fast. Sometimes that happens. Just because a women is raped doesn't mean she has to act scared to death for a man to touch her for the rest of her life.
I liked the hero too. Just don't know a lot about him.
The bad guy was obvious. There really wasn't anyone else to pick from. It ends abruptly. I would have like to have heard about Phillip finding out about what happened to his girl.
