News At Eleven edition by Jack Greene Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
News at Eleven doesn't want to be nothing much if not a classical office romance with a twist it plays a lot on the flamboyant side of one of its main character, Jordan, who is shiny and sparkling lile only a poster boy for all gay boys should be.
Jordan is the anchorman of a LGBT tv station and he is obviously gay, and obviously a prima donna. If somewhere else this would be a fault, in his job, and for the station, Jordan is an asset he can be as much a diva as he wants since more he is excessive and more the numbers skyrocket.
Alexander is the manager of the station and from his role of command, he doesn't want to "harass" his main asset I think he has the idea that, if he makes a move on Jordan, Jordan will not refuse him, but only since he is the one in power. For Alexander this is a problem, for Jordan this is an added bonus. Tired to wait for Alexander, Jordan decides that he will seduce his boss, and of course there is no much resistance on Alexander's side.
Jordan is maybe a little too much too much pretty, too much brat, too much gay, but this is something I did found often in Jack Greene's short stories, as it's the West Hollywood set. To whom is questioning if those characters really exist in real life, I think that, if they were not real, authors would not write about them. Maybe they are part of the gay community, they are not the majority, but I think that, if you walk down Santa Monica boulevard, you will probably find some of them wandering around in their tight jeans and shiny t-shirt.

So right, but so wrong...
Who knew the news would be so...yummy? It is when it's the News at Eleven. Jack Greene writes stories about real people that are relevant to the reader.
An anchorman and the boss? Sounds like it shouldn't work. It can't because one's the boss, right? I love how Jack Green puts people together in situations that are risqué, but it works. I felt like I was right there with Jordan and Alexander. There's a passion burning between them that they don't want to acknowledge, but it's there.
At first, I wasn't keen on Jordan. He came across as a bit needy and pouty. But that said, he was realistic. He had definite diva qualities, but as the story evolved, so did he. I came to like him more when I got to know him better and it made the story stronger.
Alexander was a tad confusing as well. I first thought he was a camera man and then the boss. Either way, I liked his character because he wanted to resist, wanted to not get involved with Jordan. I loved that he was alpha all the way and a compliment to Jordan's temperamental qualities. The internal struggle Alexander dealt with is something lots of people can relate to -- follow your heart or let your career win.
When they get together, the heat burns bright between Jordan and Alexander. The scene on the desk had me checking my laptop for singe marks. Yeah, these were two guys I wanted to see make it in the long run.
If you want a fun story that's a breezy read for a summer afternoon, then you need to read News at Eleven. I give it 4 cherries.
